We are happy to announce that iWeb has taken the important decision to separate its shared hosting services and domain management to a new company called Funio. For several weeks now, Funio's distinctive team has had the objective to take over all shared hosting activities that will no longer be part of iWeb's services.

iWeb's president and chief officer, Eric Chouinard, firmly believes that shared hosting must benefit from all the attention of a team of professionals exclusively dedicated to its development. Funio will seize this opportunity to innovate and add value to the products as well as the tools that enable their delivery. In past years, we have invested a lot of time and resources into our “Smart Layer” technology and dedicated servers. iWeb will pursue deploying all its efforts in this direction in years to come, thus standing out through this innovation. However, the moment has come to provide our shared hosting customers a whole company who will take care of delivering the best out of the service. The creation of Funio also explicits the two company's mission: iWeb for dedicated servers and Funio for shared hosting.

How will this change affect my services?

The planned changes during the transition period will positively affect the services offered. For customers like you, who have at the same time shared hosting services and dedicated servers, the principal difference will be using two different websites and two order interfaces for adding new services. Eventually, these two array of services will be supported entirely by two distinct entities, which means that the management of your shared hosting will be made by Funio and dedicated server management will be made with iWeb. We will provide you further information about this in the next few months.

As soon as October 3rd, you will be able to consult Funio's new website, your new hosting provider. This will mark the first step in the transition that will scale over the next few months. Consequently, do not be surprised to see iWeb and Funio cross paths at the occasion of your contacts with customer service, while managing your account through the customer hub or while looking at your invoice. These services will still be supported by iWeb in the short them, but gradually, Funio will become your only point of contact for your web hosting management.

Iweb has named Sylvain Leclair, until recently iWeb's CDO and vice-president of sales and marketing, to the position of president of Funio. For Sylvain, we have a lot of work ahead of us to finalise the transition, but the priority will be to add value to the shared hosting services by offering you better support and tools that will allow you a better control over your hosting. In fact, in the next year, we will add many new features to raise the value of the services received by our customers. Finally, we will rethink our systems, including our domain name management system who will undergo a long due facelift. Our team has been impatiently waiting for this project for some time now, and we are all very motivated by this new beginning. It is a challenge to the high aspirations of our team.

In the weeks to come, we will keep you informed of the next steps of this new development. In the meantime, do not hesitate to contact us. It will be our pleasure to answer your questions.

Thank you!
The Funio Team
