To avoid any firewall restrictions when trying to access the WebsitePanel portal, or when uploading files via FTP, or even when sending or receiving email, we'll need to create new rules in Windows Firewall.
Ingredients
- 1 Inbound Firewall Rule: port 9001
- 2 cups vegetable stock
- 1 Inbound Firewall Rule: FileZilla
- 1 Inbound Firewall Rule: port 25
1. To access Windows Firewall, go to Start > Server Manager.

2. Click on “Go to Windows Firewall.”

3. Scroll down, then click “Inbound Rules.”

4. On the Actions pane, click “New Rule…”

5. We will begin with a rule that will allow you access to the WebsitePanel portal from any internet-connected web browser. On the first step of the wizard, click the radio button for “Port”; then click “Next.”

6. Select “Specific local ports:”, and then enter port number “9001”. Then click “Next.”

7. On the next step, select “Allow the connection,“ then click “Next.”

8. Select the Domain, Private, and Public profiles, then click “Next.”

9. Provide a name for the rule, then click “Finish.”

10. To open a port for SMTP traffic, click “New Rule…” again, then follow the above directions to create a rule for port 25.

11. Now we will create a rule for Filezilla. This time, however, instead of a port, we will be creating a rule for the program. Click on “New Rule…”, then, at the start of the wizard, select the “Program” radio button; then click “Next.”

12. Select “This program path:”, then click “Browse…”

13. Double-click “SYSTEM (C

.”

14. Double-click “Program Files (x86).”

15. Double-click the “FileZilla Server” folder.

16. Click to highlight “FileZilla server.”

17. Click “Open.”

18. You’ll now see the program path set to “...\FileZilla server.exe”. Click “Next.”

19. Click “Allow the connection,” then click “Next.”

20. Select the Domain, Private, and Public profiles, then click “Next.”

21. Provide a name for the rule, then click “Finish.”
