If you own a smart device like Internet-connected televisions, cars, refrigerators or thermostats, you might already be part of a botnet of millions of infected devices that was used to launch the biggest DDoS attack known to date, with peaks of over 1 Tbps of traffic.


France-based hosting provider OVH was the victim to the record-breaking Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks that reached over one terabit per second (1 Tbps) over the past week.


As the Internet of Things (IoT) or connected devices are growing at a great pace, they continue to widen the attack surface at the same time, giving attackers a large number of entry points to affect you some or the other way.1 Tbps DDoS Attack Hits OVH


IoTs are currently being deployed in a large variety of devices throughout your home, businesses, hospitals, and even entire cities (Smart Cities), but they are routinely being hacked and used as weapons in cyber attacks due to lack of stringent security measures and insecure encryption mechanisms.



Octave Klaba, the founder and CTO of OVH, revealed on Twitter last week when his company was hit with two simultaneous DDoS attacks whose combined bandwidth reached almost 1 Tbps.


"Last days, we got [a] lot of huge DDoS. Here, the list of "bigger that 100Gbps" only. You can see the simultaneous DDoS are close to 1 Tbps!," Klaba tweeted (https://twitter.com/olesovhcom/status/778830571677978624).


A screenshot posted by Klaba shows multiple DDoS attacks that exceed 100 Gbps, including one that peaked at 799 Gbps alone, making it the largest DDoS attack ever reported.




According to the OVH founder, the massive DDoS attack was carried out via a network of over 152,000 IoT devices that includes compromised CCTV cameras and personal video recorders.

فکر کنم اگه یک سایت دولتی ایران یا مستقیم به زیر ساخت با این قدرت حمله کنند کل اینترنت ایران برای چند روزی اینترنتش قطع میشد :))

ولی حتما اونا در حد چند دقیقه ای قطع شد دسترسیشون

تو ایران اصن این مقدار پورت وجود داره ؟ اگر با 1.5 ترابایت به ایران بزنن به تر تر میفتن .

با متود tcpack چجوری این مقدار قدرت رسیدن ؟ هه ه . این حجم ترافیکو کجاشون میزارن این دیتاسنتر های خارجی ؟ ;D

دیتا سنتر OVH تقریبا یک ساله شیطون شده و یواشکی داره به دیتا سنتر های دیگه اتک میزنه .
ما یک کولوکیشن در دیتا سنتر serverius داریم که پارسال از OVH بهش اتک زده شد هز چی دیتا سنتر بهشون ریپورت میداد واسه این اتک اما اصلا همکاری نمیکرد تقریبا یک هفته طول کشید تا دیتا سنتر تونست اتکو دفع کنه و با پشتیبانی دیتاسنترserverius که صحبت میکردم میگفت دقیقا یک ساعت بعد از اینکه اتکشون دفع شد پاسخ دادند به ابیوس .که خیلی جای تعجب داشت این مورد.
فکر میکنم از این اتک های سنگین زیاد بخوره OVH در آینده
