In WHMCS V5.2 and newer, the password reset process was changed so that rather than sending a password by email, users get to choose the specific password they want after clicking the link sent by email.So this sounds like it's probably just a case of pwreset.tpl and/or pwresetvalidation.tpl template files being out of date in your template folder
.All you should need to do is update your pwresetvalidation.tpl and pwreset.tpl files from the latest version of WHMCS and replace it with your current files
.After that has been completed, that should resolve the issue
